Dexter

What is there to say besides Hollywood has truly done their job. Michael C. Hall and company has put together a spell-binding thriller, tragic heart breaker, and sprinkled on just a touch of comical genius. With the edgy murder mystery television show, Viewers anxiously await every Sunday night so they uncover the next chapter in Dexter's life.

Dexter Morgan, as many would refer to as a "lovable serial killer," works for the Miami Police Department as a blood spatter analyst. The irony in this situation is astounding, considering he spends his free time removing any trace of blood from the scenes of murders he carries out personally. His sister, Deb, is a detective at the police station. Their father, now deceased, was also a police officer. But here is the catch. Dexter's father knew he was a killer, even trained him. When dexter was two or three years old, he witnessed his mother's murder. Harry Morgan (Dexter's father) was the first cop on the scene. He took Dexter home, and later adopted him. He saw the signs of a serial killer in Dexter, and went to great lengths to protect him, by training him. Throughout the show, Dexter mentions two of the rules Harry taught him, which is calls the Code of Harry:
  • Don't get caught.
  • Never kill anyone innocent
Other rules Dexter mentions are:

  • Never make a scene.
  • Fake emotion and normality to fit in (Dexter has a job, wife, and even kids).
It would take much to long to explain every detail of this show, but the bottom line is that Dexter Morgan is a serial killer that only kills murderers. And that everyone in the world should watch this show. Cause it's amazing.

How I Met Your Mother

To give you an idea of this show, all I really need to do is explain the characters. Let me start with Ted.Ted is smart, kind of dorky, and all around adorable. The show is supposed to be about Ted explaining to his children in the year 2030 all about how he met his wife (and their mother; get it? That's the name of the show. So, anyways...). Ted lives in New York City with his friends. Well, he lives with Lily and Marshall. And I think Robin at one point, but I can't really remember. Oops. Ted met Marshall in college (they were room mates) and they were friends ever since. Marshall is the funniest character ever (I'll probably say that about everyone, because I love them all). He is a really goofy guy, but super nice at the same time. He is a lawyer, and dreams to one day go into environmental law, but he ends up in multiple corporate law jobs, which he believes to be unethical. Lily, his girlfriend, then fiance, then wife (they go through all three stages in the show) is possibly just as goofy and kind as Marshall is. She is a kindergarten teacher, but her dream is to be a famous painter. Robin starts out the show as Ted's girlfriend, but after the two of them break up during the course of the show, they remain close friends. I'm glad, because if one of these five characters were missing, it would throw off the dynamic of the whole show. Speaking of the five characters, I forgot to mention one. BARNEY. He is, without a doubt, my favorite character. Played by Neil Patrick Harris (who I love already), Barney is a total player. He is sleeping with a new girl in every episode (which is super ironic, because he in real life, Neil Patrick Harris is gay). Barney always makes up stories about who he is, and just in general tells girls crazy lies to get them to sleep with him. It's funny when it's on TV, right? This show would not be as perfect without him, and let me tell you, it IS perfect. WATCH ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. You can thank me later. :)

30 Rock

This is the perfect show for me to start with, because 30 Rock is my favorite comedy show by far. Let me start by explaining it a little bit. Liz Lemon (played by Tina Fey, who also created the show) is a comedy writer for The Girly Show, a sketch comedy show that stars Jenna Maroney, Liz’s best friend, and the set’s resident diva.
When Tina gets a new power hungry boss, Jack Donaghy, (played by Alec Balwin) he makes the executive to decision to add comedy movie star, Tracy Jordan (played by Tracy Morgan) to the cast. This happens within the first episode. The rest of the show is just about Liz dealing with Jenna and Tracy, trying to direct her subordinate writers, and keeping her boss, Jack, happy.
I can’t talk about 30 Rock without mentioning Kenneth. He is a page for NBC and does anything the staff/cast want. He grew up in a small farm town and is the most innocent person in the world (even though he is probably in his late twenties). He slowly becomes friends with Tracy Jordan, and they are perfect opposites. Tracy is a wild partier, and is probably mentally insane.
I don’t think this could be any more perfect than if it had been written just for me. Every time a watch it I am laughing almost every minute of the show. Tina Fey definitely knew what she was doing when she wrote this. Take my advice and watch 30 Rock, you’ll love it.
