Gossip Girl

To be honest I'm not eeven sure if they make this show anymore, because I just watch it on Netflix. Like everything else. If there was ever a show that was made strictly for the teenage female population, it's this. It basically consists of sex, drugs, and clothes.

Gossip girl is about a bunch of annoyingly rich private school kids living on the upper east side of Manhattan. Everything they do is unrealistic, and everything that happens to them is unrealitistic (like any good TV show). I love it.

The main character, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), comes back to the upper east side after six months at boarding school. The main story surrounding her is "bad girl gone good". After a few episodes, you find out that she left because she slept with her best friend's boyfriend, and she couldn't stand to face Blair (her best friend).

For a while Blair hates Serena, and then it all gets resolved (but of course many new problems surface before that happens).

The reason the title of the show is Gossip Girl is because there is an anonymous girl that maintains a blog about the gossip that the kids at these private schools are involved in. Like I said, it's totally unrealistic. But that makes for a good show so who cares?

Family Guy

I watched this the other day for the first time in a while so I decided to write about it. Family Guy is one of those shows where I forget how funny it is until I see it again. It's not like a witty-funny kind of show. It's just really stupid. It's about stupid people doing stupid things. But that's funny.

While there are a lot of funny characters, Family Guy would not exist without Peter (obviously). If he was a real person, people would either love him or hate him. It would probably depend on how tolerant you are of morons. He really is a moron. In the episode I saw recently, he stole airplane fuel directly from a plane for his truck, and his friend (the pilot) crashed the plane. I realize that no one would actually be stupid enough to do that. Or capable of it.

Do they still make Family Guy? I was wondering that. Because the voice of Peter's daughter, Meg, is played by Mila Kunis, who is much more famous than she was when the show first began. I don't know if she would have enough time to keep acting and doing Meg's voice.

Pretty much the basis of the show is having totally extreme characters. Which works for the show. Plus I think the show might be the way it is because the writers are high when they write. At least some of the time, because I don't know how some of the material they write comes to them. It's gotta be drugs.

The Sing-Off

Picking a show to review for this blog was nearly impossible. Why? Because all I do is watch Grey's Anatomy. I love Netflix.

But then I remembered I watch The Sing-Off when I'm taking a break from Grey's so I thought I'd review this. This show, in my opinion, is different from a lot of other singing shows. The main idea is that there are a bunch of acapella groups, and there is a panel of three judges (yeah I know, like every other show) that vote one group off every week. The reason I think this show is different is because the actual talent of the group is evaluated, and that's what plays the major role in who stays and who goes, rather than how much the judges like their appearance, or other shallow things like that.

The panel of judges on this show is great. Ben Folds, who is an artist and musical producer, is the most knowledgable when it comes to the technicality of the music. He has a good ear for which groups actually know how to pull off the singing part. Sara Bareilles, who is a recording artist, is pretty good with the music part too, but she also likes groups who are entertaining and put on a nice show. The third judge is Shawn Stockman, who is from Boyz II Men. You may not think he knows what he's doing, but he's actually not bad. Although he usually just taks about a group's performance in general.

The only thing I don't like about this show is the host. Nick Lachey. He's super annoying. That's all I gotta say about him.

The groups from the first couple seasons were pretty good, but they were soooooo much better this year. The seasons over, but I can't wait until next season.
